This came in to me and I wanted everyone on the parking team to see it. I am so proud of each and every one of you for your willingness to serve and impact lives like this. Thanks!
This Sunday, my little sister
actually accepted my "casual" invitation to come to church. She and I have
had a tough relationship and I've been praying that we would get along
better and that she would be drawn to God. For the last ten years she has
been an atheist, actually practicing "Wicca", wearing a pentagram around her neck, and wants nothing to do with me or my Bible. You can imagine how that
might lead to some awkward conversations. She is now a single mom with a
sweet little 5 month old baby girl, whose life I desperately want to be a
part of.
As I mentioned, she accepted my invite and made her way to EastLake on
Sunday for second service. I was so nervous waiting for her in the lobby,
hoping I wouldn't miss her and that EastLake would be EastLake (friendly,
fun, attractive to her). I could have cried when I turned around to see Tim
Nienaber walking her through the parking lot, carrying her baby car seat for
her and holding the door as she made her way in. He was definitely my hero
in that moment! What a way to go above and beyond helping people find a
parking spot. That scene is the very reason I love this church. I know I can
literally invite ANYONE.
Please let your team know how much they are appreciated. Who knows if she
will come again, but I know she was touched by the kindness of your team and
I am so grateful!
Michelle
