Dec 20th Parking

Here are this weeks parking assignments. I went to Value Village to try and find an "Ugly Christmas Sweater" and they are all gone! So, I went online to try and determine what the true definition of an "Ugly Christmas Sweater" was and I couldn't find one. Wikipedia doesn't even have it listed so therefore I am going to define what it is! An Ugly Christmas Sweater is: A Sweater that promotes the idea of christmas or the holiday season. Can be made by anyone as long as the clothing is technically considered a sweater. Meaning it cannot be an "Ugly Christmas T-shirt" or "Ugly Christmas Jacket"

So with the new definition in mind if someone went to Value Village and bought a cheap $2.99 dirty white sweater like someone I know they could make that into a "Ugly Christmas Sweater." Maybe create a theme or something? Let's say a classic Christmas Movie theme like Elf or Bad Santa or Christmas Vacation? Or it could be stuff like Christmas Trees or ormanents colorfully drawn onto the sweater. Or you could just add Christmas flare! Remember the movie Office Space! Just some ideas because I know we can all create some pretty cool stuff and who has an ugly christmas sweater in there closet anyway? See you sunday and remember that we are in competition with the Greeters. They are going to be crushed by our Christmas Spirit!

Smiles are my favorite!

Dec 13th

Here is this weeks parking info. Should be pretty cold on Sunday so bring the warm stuff! Check out the email that I got from Michelle Peterson and the parking team in Wisconsin at Dave's church. Also, some of you ask what the answers are to some of the poll questions and the Pat, Ryan and Farmer answer is landscaping at Eastside Foursquare! At least that's what Farmer says.

On another note. Barry Glenn and Robbie Rech are going to be stepping up and helping on a monthly basis leading the operations for a day. They are much smarter than I and will run the show great. If anyone else is interested we would love to have you. These positions will be called something like "Lead Parking Enforcer" or "Parking manager on duty."

I will have to be gone during the 3rd shift so if someone on the 3rd shift could help put away cones that would be great. Work calls. have a good one.

Email from Michelle Peterson with Great Lakes Church

Hey everyone. I got this email from Michelle Peterson in Kenosha Wisconsin and it is from the parking team leader at Great Lakes Church. The passion they have out there right now is inspiring! However I think if I sent you this long an email you'd all bail on me!

Parkers,

Our third and final preview service is approaching this Sunday. I also want to say thanks for doing your job so well. We have gotten a lot of praise for being a friendly church and couldn't have pulled that off it wasn't for friendly parkers ! So keep up the good work, and keep on waving, smiling and whatever else we can do to be genuinely friendly we don't want to "fake it".I know . We also need to be outside right after service to wave good bye and direct traffic, pick-up cone / sign's etc.

Remember to dress for the weather !
We have gotten hand warmers for our pockets.

If you have a rain coat wear it. I will try to remember to bring some contractor bags and duct tape to make some rain coats if needed.
If you have an extra umbrella please bring it, we will need it to help people stay dry and help them to the door.
Sunday Occasional showers possible. Highs in the low 40s and lows in the upper 30s, but we live in Wisconsin so it can change in a moment's notice.

We all need to be at the church at 9am on Sunday!
Our team this week will consist of the following:

Alan Anzalone - You will be on 60th waving to people this week.
Scott Nelson - You will be in the main parking lot showing people what space to park in.
Justin Adams- You will be in the main parking directing also you are in charge of bringing in the cones this week.
Dan Cortez - You might be in with the rug rats i don't know, but if not I want you on the side walk helping people out of cars or hold an umbrella for people if it is raining.
Bill Harvey- you will be at the back entrance telling people to go to the next entrance. You are in charge of bringing in the signs.
Tom Mercier- You will be at Indian Trail entrance, you are going in for worship this week.
Jimmy Routt - You are in with the rug rats this week. Have fun bud, we will pray that you return to us alive and well next service!!!! ;)
Nick Keeran - Will be helping us this Sunday. I don't have an e-mail for him, if anybody knows his e-mail please forward this to him. I will call him if I don't get a response by Friday Morning. We hope that nick will join our parking team on a full time basis once we go live.

Remember Setup is Friday night at 6pm we could use any help we can get!

I need a list of anything (Items or ideas) that you think might be a good Idea to help better our cause. please e-mail this to me.
we will go over this on Sunday, We have already put a small list together.
If you know of anybody wishing or willing to serve in our parking team let me know or bring them and we will put them to good use!!! I will be willing to go out for coffee with them and you. Maybe we can even invite Dave ( just so he can pay! )

I would like everybody to reply to this so I know you have gotten it. If I sent this to your spouse then I don't have an email address for you please send it. Scott I know you have no use for the Internet so I will just send your mail to your wife. My cell phone is 262-237-0107 if anybody cant make it or needs to talk to me feel free to call.

We also should get together one afternoon or night just to hang out. being that we are the real men and women of Great lakes Church we have to do something cool. I don't know if any of you like to shoot but if you do we should go to the range and shoot. I have a couple of .22cal 1 Ruger pistol and 1 Savage rifle. I can get a box of 500 or more rounds and we can go for a few hours. If some of you have bigger and better weapons of mass destruction let me know it will determine were we go. Let me know what you think. Thanks. I was also thinking that a little paintball would be fun. I don't have a PB gun and don't know if they rent them out here. I know of a paintball place in North Chicago, but I don't know much about it. Anyways let me know what you guys want to do. Even if its just to watch a game and have a few beers or a game of hold'em.

If I confused you in anyway with my spastic rambling or poor grammar call me.

Regards,

Jesse L. Stalman

Dec 7th Parking Assignments

Hey everyone. Here are this weeks parking assignments. http://www.eastlakecc.com/events/ugly-christmas-sweater-sunday/
Check out the upcoming "Ugly Sweater Sunday" I think the parking team will win this one hands down. Start gearing up because we won't be wearing vests or jackets that day but our Ugly Sweaters.

Also, with last weekend being Thanksgiving I wanted to let everyone know how thankfull I am for your help with parking. We have an amazing and very consistent team and I appreciate all of your help. I could write something great about every single person on this team and how much they have contributed. Way back when Pat, Peter and Farmer first started the parking team at the old church I know they couldn't have imagined a team like this. Just think at one point our entire weekend service was about 50 people! We have almost 40 people just on the parking team. Thanks again.

Nov. 9th parking assignments

Costume Constest Deadline

Because it seems like the voting is looking bad for me I will be cutting off the voting on Thursday night at 5:00pm. Whatever the results are at that time will be verified by the accounting firm of Nienaber and Nienaber so as to be fair!

Parking Assignments: Nov. 2nd.

Mystery Parker Weekend! We are having a mystery parker this weekend. This individual goes to Eastlake and will be helping outside this weekend. Here are a few hints to see if you can guess who this person is.

1. My favorite coffee is a coconut americano
2. I have three tatoos and three ear piercings.
3. I was the captain of my high school swim team my senior year.

If you think you know who this person is send me an email and we will honor you in front of church on sunday as the smartest parking team person. (Just kidding)

See you Sunday.

Parking Assignments: October 19th

Here are the parking assignments for October 19th. I think we are in for another surge in parking this week so if we could all be a little early that would be great. Seahawks play a night game and after the porn weekend there should be a TON of people. Thanks to everyone who helped last week. I heard everything went well. I am going to be actively recruiting new people for the parking team so if anyone has a friend that would enjoy helping with parking let me know and I will speak with them. Thanks and see you on Sunday. Also if anyone needs to reach me my phone number is 425-444-4939.

Brian

One last thing. With worship night this friday I was planning on having 3-4 people help with parking. Just wearing vests and standing outside to help direct people in. I will cone off the front area so people will not be able to drive in front of the church but that is it. Anyone interested just send me an email.

Oct. 5th parking assignments

Hello everyone. This past sunday was somewhat crazy and thanks to everyone for their help. This sunday as you can tell from the blog I have assigned everyone to various positions. Please grab your stuff and head to that location. Matt Woll sent out an email asking people who are staying for both services to park in the Northshore School district parking lot. In an emergency we may be using that as overflow parking but for now we will continue the same. Thanks and see you sunday.

Here is this weeks parking assingments. Last sunday was fairly busy but we handled it great. I look forward to seeing you all and we will have "parking donuts" this weekend. Sunday September 21 parking update

This sunday was the start of the sex series and during the first service we parked over 540 cars. We parked an additional 430 for second and had a total attendance for the day of 2246. So if you voted 2250 you were correct. Thanks again for you help.

Parking Assignments: Sept 21

Here is this weeks parking assignments: Last week we parked over 800 cars during first and second service. We had 439 cars exit after second service in 20 minutes. That is a remarkable rate and thanks to everyone for thier help. It seems like a long time ago when we had 5 people at Easter and people waited 40 minutes to get out. I bet no one waited longer than 5 minutes last sunday. With the new mailing having just been sent out I expect our attendance to jump! Therefore if you can't make it please let me know and I will make other arrangements. If you have walkie talkies at home and can bring them that would be great. If most everyone has a walkie talkie it makes a huge difference. Thanks for keeping the parking team so much fun! Also, if you are volunteering please try to park in the back of the church. This saves parking spaces for those who visit for the first time. Also, if anyone is interested in helping with set up, picking up signs during second service or tear down we would love any additional help. Thanks,

Brian

In memory of Nic Madrazo

Hello Eastlake Parking Team: I put this on the blog because Nic was a good friend of Rob Williams and myself. We met Nic and his family through playing basketball at the YMCA. He was one of the nicest people that I knew. This story goes on to tell a little more about who Nic was and what was in his heart. He touched so many people's lives and died doing something that he loved doing. He is in heaven now and I thank God for the opportunity to have met a man like Nic. Life is short and the impact we have on others is what counts. You all have had an impact on me and your willingness to help out with this parking team means a ton. Thanks so much.

Brian

SEATTLE TIMES STAFF REPORTER
Jennifer Sullivan

Almost every time 1st Lt. Nicholas Madrazo opened the gates of his Marine base north of Kabul, he would be greeted by the gleeful screams of Afghan children ready to play.

Since his deployment to Afghanistan's Parwan province in March, the 25-year-old Bothell man had become a popular friend to many of the local children on the outskirts of Kabul.

With pens, paper, candy and an occasional game of soccer, Lt. Madrazo had quickly grown to be known around the area as just "Nic," his father, Joel Madrazo, said Friday.

"Nic really wanted to send a message that we should pass on the good things we are doing here," said Joel Madrazo. "We're not just soldiers but we have other jobs to do — that's trying to improve the lives of the local people."

Lt. Madrazo died Sept. 9 after a roadside bomb detonated underneath his Humvee. Along with Lt. Madrazo, two other Marines and their Afghan interpreter were killed, Joel Madrazo said.

Lt. Madrazo is survived by his parents, a brother, a sister, grandparents, aunts and cousins.

"We cry and we remember him, but we know he is with our Lord," Joel Madrazo said.

When he was a child, Nicholas Madrazo would play war games with friends. In his sophomore year at Seattle Pacific University, he announced that after college, he would join the Marines, along with some friends from Bothell High School.

After earning his business degree in 2005, Lt. Madrazo started military training and eventually was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. When he was deployed from there to Afghanistan, Lt. Madrazo regularly relayed stories to his family about rebuilding the area.

"When he got to Afghanistan, he immersed himself in the culture. His job was to go to villages and meet with tribal leaders to find out what their needs were — one was paving the surrounding of a mosque," Joel Madrazo said. "He loved working, having that kind of responsibility."

Lt. Madrazo asked his parents to send him pads of paper, pencils and lots of ballpoint pens as gifts for the children he met. He told his parents that the children were fascinated with ink pens and loved to write with them.

"He connected with kids," his father said. "He grew up around kids, his cousins and the neighborhood we live in."

Lt. Madrazo had thought about becoming a firefighter on his return home.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sept. 20 at Westminster Chapel, 13646 N.E. 24th St., Bellevue. The service is open to the public.

Hey Everyone, here is this weeks parking team info. We are asking that everyone show up 10 minutes earlier for their shift because we are going to go over some of the new changes with the way we do parking. We will meet by the parking stuff and just talk about how things are expected to increase and what that will mean to everyone. First shift 8:50, Second Shift 10:20, 3rd shift 12:05. Thanks everyone and see you on sunday.

Parking Assignments; September 7th

Hey everyone. As you can tell I am ramping up the team to quite a few people per shift. We are expecting a surge in attendance now that school is back in session. We will be having people stationed in the back as well.( Rob & Steve) We will also be counting cars during each section and reporting the number each week. Rob Rees is our master statistician! Last sunday we had 402 cars come into the building between first and second service. We had 500 cars exit after second service. This job is becoming more and more intense and all your help is truly appreciated. We will be doing another video in the near future to help people understand why we are directing them to different spots. Thanks again to everyone who is on this team and how much it means to Eastlake.

Parking Assignments: Aug 31st

I am going to be adding the maps again because we are going to be experiencing some "Easter" like days in the near future. We will be having one person be a spotter for the rows during every section and we will also be needing people to help get the flow into the back lot. We are going to be tracking the car flow into and out of the lot and I will post the weekend numbers on the site for all the stat geeks in the group like me. See you sunday!

Parking Schedule: August 17th

Hello everyone. Here is this weeks schedule and I will be gone during the first 2 shifts so if you have anything that needs communicating please call Peter at 425-736-8060. Also, next friday is the worship night and I'm going to probably need parking help. Probably 4 people to direct and 4 people to exit for about 10 minutes? I think we will set up some cones just to eliminate the flow of cars from coming in front of the entrance. Was way to crazy last time. Those who can help let me know it won't be to much. Thanks,
Brian

August 10th: Parking Assignments

Hey everyone, here is this weeks parking assignments. This has been a crazy summer and thanks to all those who have been able to help. We really appreciate all your help and your ability to juggle your schedules and still help. We are fast approaching fall and we want to see who all is interested in committing to the next session of parking. Just like growth groups I don't want people to feel like they are locked into always serving in this capacity. If you would like to stay with this that is great but if you want to transition into serving in a different area just let me know.
I heard a person say the other day that they aren't looking to serve they just want to be fed! A wise individual responded to them by saying " I hate it when people say that!" The other person asked why? The wise individual responded that "If all your doing is getting fed than you just get Fat! You need to work it out! " I loved that response because the parking team is definitely not getting Fat! Thanks so much for your help and your willingness to serve at Eastlake.

Here are this weeks parking assignments. Thanks to everyone for helping out. Cody Lamens is the one getting married. The rest of you guys are off the hook. See you Sunday.
With regards to this weeks poll question: How many pushups will Pastor Dave do at the end of boot camp. It's a 2 minute trial and he's getting ripped so think a high number.

Parking Assignments: July 13th

Hey Team, How's it going? Well, I'm excited to be back and see most everyone this weekend. Should be another nice day and shorts are encouraged again. My brain is a little lacking and I am trying to get a grip on schedules through the end of august. If you have an event or weekend you are going to be gone could you send me an email so I can track it. Thanks to everyone who has helped so much over the past couple of weeks.
With the holiday past us I expect a lot of people are going to be at church this weekend so lets bring our "A" game. Also, with the new saturday night schedule coming out I would love to get together with some of you who would be interested in looking at saturday nights and parking? It isn't until September but I want to be prepared sooner rather than later.

Parking Schedule- July 6th

The 4th of July weekend is here and my guess is we will be packed! So with that in mind I am putting out an APB for those who can help. I am going to be gone again and Peter will be the contact person. Thanks for everyone who helped out last weekend I hear it went great. Peter Reid's email is par2over@yahoo.com
In response to last weeks poll which no one bothered to vote on! Thanks. We actually took 4th. Meaning nothing! Just a really hot couple days in Spokane. With 6400 teams participating I guess it truly does show that no one in the northwest likes basketball.

Here is this weeks parking assignments. I will be gone the next 2 weeks and Pat will be gone this week, so if people can help we would really appreciate it. Peter Reid will be the contact and his email is par2over@yahoo.com. I will miss you guys and thanks for your much needed help. Last Sunday was the busiest our parking lot has been since Easter and the more help the better. We could use some help with tearing down, picking up signs during 2nd service and help with the 3rd section. Have a good one.

Worship Night/Parking party!

Hello everyone. We have worship night on Friday and we will definitely be needing help with Parking. Because the parking team is the coolest team at Eastlake and have such a great time the Parking Team leaders are hosting a tailgating style gathering before the worship night.

Get to know other people who are serving on the parking team and other teams at Eastlake. We will set up some tents and have it in the back parking lot. Beer, Pop, chips, snacks and whatever anyone wants to bring. I will be setting up around 5:00 but people can come whenever. I am going to be passing this onto the ushers and greeters as the more the merrier. I did run this by Ryan Farmer to get an approval in case your wondering. Thanks again to all you parking people. I really appreciate your help and energy.

June 1st Tentative Parking

Hey everyone. Thanks for your help last week. Nathan Wetmore congrats on the new baby. I was shocked to hear that you were able to help 2 days after your child was born! Wow. Also, Ryan Scharnhorst thanks for kicking everyone into gear when we needed it. Peter was gone so I was a little slack. Also, let me know if you can make it this weekend. We have such a great team and I want to make sure that everyone is having fun and not feeling over worked. Tim, Barry and Joan I've left you off to give you a break, but if you can help and want to I'd love it. This weeks poll is strictly fictitious. I'm not saying that we should do anything like tailgating at the worship night! Have a good week.

Your help will be appreciated. Also, it looks like Mike and Ken are considered the worst dancers? I'm thinking Brandon and Cody would be gone in a heartbeat!
